The advantages of pigging over the conventional cleaning methods are:
less down time ~ quick turnaround ~ no hazardous chemicals ~ safe ~ most economical
 Pipe line pigging is an internal pipe cleaning process, which is utilized to renew flow rates to restricted piping systems and to reduce pumping pressures.
If low "C" factors, inadequate water flow, or unwanted foreign matter such as iron oxide (red water), sludge, grease, debris and the like are causing problems in your system, pigging in most cases provides a solution.
The pigs are made of open-cell polyurethane flexible foam at varied densities and are coated in a polyurethane rubber coating with the addition of various types of abrasives.
The process used to clean piping systems is called progressive pigging. This process involves graduating the pig size until the original I.D. of the pipe being cleaned is achieved.
Pigging can be used on various size lines from one to 72" in diameter and from one foot to miles in length. The fact that the pig will reduce in size, allows it to pass through multidimensional lines and can be run with valves, elbows and tee's in place.
